1. Masked Intruder at Manchf3ster, Dry Bar, Manchester, September 2014.

Another band I wasn’t sold on on record, but who won me over live. They’re so much fun! How can you not love a band with their own police escort who tosses you donuts and smacks crowdsurfers with his nightstick? Amazing.

  2. Gnarwolves at Manchf3ster, Dry Bar, Manchester, September 2014.

Gnarwolves! You can’t stop these guys. They’re gonna be absolutely huge.

  3. Apologies, I Have None at Manchf3ster, Dry Bar, Manchester, September 2014.

More lineup changes, with Lee Hartney from Smith Street filling in on the bass at the moment, but Apologies smashed it at this show - much better than last time. Consistently looking forward to where Josh takes them next.

  4. Sam Russo at Manchf3ster, Dry Bar, Manchester, September 2014.

On tour with Throwing Stuff and Masked Intruder. Russo’s probably the best solo folk punk guy in the game these days. He’s got something special, for sure.

  5. Bangers at Manchf3ster, Dry Bar, Manchester, September 2014.

I love Bangers. They’re fast becoming one of the UK’s most oddest-behaving punk bands. Never know what they’re gonna do next.

  6. The Smith Street Band at Manchf3ster, Dry Bar, Manchester, September 2014.

Secret set! Billed as Lee Hartney Sex Drive, which apparently is a real band? Or is it always just a cover for Smith Street? Either way, I guess this was a warm up for their tour with the Menzingers. Never really got these guys from records alone, but after seeing them live I think I’m converted.

  7. Milk Teeth at Manchf3ster, Dry Bar, Manchester, September 2014.

Can’t believe it’s taken me so long to check this band out - don’t make the same mistake. Grungey punk without any emo whining, SO loud. They ruined everyone’s ears for the day.

  8. Throwing Stuff at Manchf3ster, Dry Bar, Manchester, September 2014.

When did these guys get good?

  9. Guerrilla Monsoon at Manchf3ster, Dry Bar, Manchester, September 2014.

  10. Doctrines at Manchf3ster, Dry Bar, Manchester, September 2014.

Absolutely crushed it. These guys are pretty much one of the best bands in the scene right now, so different to everything else out there. Check them out!

  11. Manchf3ster Day Two at Retro Bar, Manchester, September 2014.

Featuring a bunch of pals playing Descendents covers, and Boxkite doing Minor Threat covers.

  12. Modern Baseball at Manchf3ster Day One, Sound Control, Manchester, September 2014.

Great to see Modern Baseball headlining a show instead of opening for Real Friends - it’s wild how big they’ve got in such a short space of time. I wish I could have got some better pictures but the crowd just blew up during their set! I’m hoping they’ve captured some of the chaos at least. Shout outs are well deserved to the band for managing to keep everyone safe without bringing anyone down, too. I always feel really lucky to be able to see such great bands that are on their way up in the company of so many good people, and this show was the perfect example of that. Say hi if you spot yourself in the crowd!

  13. Spraynard at Manchf3ster Day One, Sound Control, Manchester, September 2014.

Pretty great to see Spraynard again, never been their biggest fan on record but I’ve got to admit they kill it live. A bit weird that their long-awaited reunited return to the UK was opening for Modern Baseball in front of crowds of teenagers without a clue who they are, but to be honest it’s just good to have ‘em back.

  14. Losing Sleep at Manchf3ster Day One, Sound Control, Manchester, September 2014.

Opening the third (or fifth, depending on what you count) edition of Manchfester whilst on tour with Modern Baseball and Spraynard.

  15. Har Mar Superstar at the Wardrobe, Leeds, September 2014.

Man. Myth. Legend. So glad I finally got to see Har Mar. Not gonna lie, I danced a lot.
