1. The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die at The Star & Garter, Manchester, April 2014.

This was easily one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Definitely the best of the year so far. Just… perfect.

  2. Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) at The Star & Garter, Manchester, April 2014.

On tour with The World Is…, borrowing some members as a backing band. They debuted some new songs, which sounded great.

  3. The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die at The Cockpit, Leeds, April 2014.

Absolutely flawless. See this band at all costs.

  4. Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) at The Cockpit, Leeds, April 2014.

On tour with The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die, borrowing some of their members for a backing band.

  5. Send More Paramedics at Wharf Chambers, Leeds, April 2014.

Clawed their way out of their graves for what I think may be their first show in seven years.

  6. Curtis Eller’s American Circus at The Ruby Lounge, Manchester, March 2014.

Pretty much the greatest performer in the business. Curtis Eller shows are absolute chaos in the best possible way. High kicks, yodelling, moustaches, banjos, singalongs, dancing, facts about American history, the whole lot. You must see it before you die.

  7. The Tuts at Wharf Chambers, Leeds, March 2014.

Oh man, The Tuts just rule. Probably one of the greatest/most fun/most stoked/best dressed bands going in the UK at the moment. They cannot be stopped.

  8. Jesus and his Judgemental Father at Wharf Chambers, Leeds, March 2014.

Leeds’ most beloved queer punks who just won’t stay dead. Like the Ten Things I Hate About You soundtrack condensed in to one band.

  9. Elopes at Wharf Chambers, Leeds, March 2014.

Like an angry feminist Cat Power from Sheffield. Well worth checking out! Opening for The Tuts here.

  10. Doghouse Reilly at Baby Hop Fest at The Parish, Huddersfield, March 2014.

  11. The Survival Tour 2014 at Hand Drawn Monkey, Huddersfield, March 2014.

One of the best nights of the year so far. The Survival Tour this year was Sam Russo, Roo Pescod (of Bangers), Jimmy Islip (of The Magnificent and That Fucking Tank), and Dear Everyone (Helen Chambers, El Morgan, and Kelly Kemp).

  12. HausPlant at Charlotte’s Studio Warming, Huddersfield, February 2014.

Too busy smashing the patriarchy to learn the words. First show at my friend Charlotte’s opening of her as-yet un-named studio space. My vote was for Art Space Garfunkel.

  13. Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra at The Brudnell Social Club, Leeds, February 2014.

"FUCK OFF GET FREE LOVE AND LOVE’S THE ONLY THING."

  14. Paddy Steer at the 19th Carefully Planned All-Dayer, Gullivers, Manchester, February 2014.

The Sun Ra of the Glockenspiel.

  15. Silent Front at the 19th Carefully Planned All-dayer, Gullivers, Manchester, February 2014.

First time I’ve resorted to black and white in a long time. They had horrible red lightbulbs on their amps. Great band though, ridiculously loud and heavy grungey noise rock.
